We seem to spend too much time on the wrong thing in this country. We need more on creativity on the field of play.
The Solution?
By Alan Maher
The New York Times is running articles on the World Cup. Today it was on the player Clint Dempsey from Texas.
Dempsey explained that he grew up in a Tex-Mex area where he played against men. He got beaten up and learned to take it. He also learned basic soccer.
For the Times he said, “Keep the ball on the ground, move players out of position so you can create chances for yourself.”
“You can’t run and gun growing up in the Texas heat. It’s more about keeping possession and making the other team tired.”
They love him in England; he is creative.
The above is enough for a good clinic. My Dutch guru wrote that we were not creative. Dempsey is…or tries to be.
We seem to spend too much time on the wrong thing in this country. We need more on creativity on the field of play.
We seem to produce mechanical men who act as interchangeable parts, but lacking in creativity.
The solution?
I think that I know, but am afraid to tell you.
