Lessons from the World Cups by Graham Ramsay Minimize

Too often we watch and admire then forget. Remember the great goal scored by Maradona in Mexico ’86 or Rodigues volley in Germany ’08 or Marta’s goals in China ‘ 08? If nothing else learning to appreciate what world class is all about is worth the effort. For example, it took Maradona just over 10 seconds from start to finish that brilliant move. Another example was in 1970 when Carlos Alberto, Pele and Tosatao combined in a superb move that sent 1000’s of players out to the pitches of the world to replicate this “gingha.” It was something from another world and then on top of that Pele nearly scored from his own half. Great players excite our imagination to go out and dream the dream. What’s wrong on improving on the “gingha of ginghas!”

(Lessons to Learn from both Men’s & Women’s World Cups)

Look at the growing number of ‘keepers getting assists with their
long, accurate passes via foot or hand, e.g., VanderSar & Czech.

“The SHOOT-OUT” – Why do some teams thrive under this pressure. Germany for example have not lost a “shoot-out” since 1976 while other countries like England can always find a way to lose one. There is a winning strategy.         Come play-off time the chances of meeting a “shoot-out” are quite high.
“ STATICS” – There is roughly a set play or static every minute of
play. Yet so many teams wing it when the rewards are so high. There
is another frightening statistic that might convince the doubters to

learning to pay more attention to corners, free-kicks and throw-ins.
This stat will be revealed at the Workshop.
“WINNING PREPARATION ” – Between the personal care to get "game ready”  of diet, rest and mental preparation can be the “edge” that give you the win.
“The DISCIPLINE of WINNING” – Its no fluke that the same teams always seem to find a way to win. We will look at several top clubs and learn their secrets.

SELECTION of TOPICS – The field sessions require at least half a day
per topic but you and your players can decide as you know your team and its needs.

SCHEDULE – They can vary depending upon your needs. Some have lasted a day and others 5 days. The longer Workshops became a camp for players and attending coaches took notes.
Obviously if you want to learn “ The Pressing Game ” you will need energy and that means players.
